Hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy is a helpful treatment for a number of different ailments. You may have heard of hyperbaric oxygen chamber treatment as a treatment for divers suffering from the bends, but it can actually be used for much more than that.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatment can also be used for serious infections, bubbles of air in blood vessels, and wounds that won’t heal as a result of diabetes or radiation injury. These ailments are only the beginning.

Many people are intimidated by the name “hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy,” but the truth is, it is completely harmless, and in most cases, is a much more pleasant experience than suffering from whatever ailment the hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy is endeavoring to heal.

The hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber is not nearly as intimidating as it sounds. You will not be locked in a cold, dark, cramped chamber. Instead, the chamber has plenty of room for one and at times, can even be large enough to hold several patients, like a room.

What does the patient have to do during therapy? Nothing! You can sit there and read a book, watch TV, listen to music, or just reflect. Whatever you’d like. All you really have to do is breathe.

The therapy works by filling the air with a higher concentration of oxygen. As the ailing patient breathes in this greater amount of oxygen, the oxygen travels through their body to the location of their illness or wound. Oxygen is crucial to the healing process, so the therapy helps wounds heal quicker.

There are a few things to be cautious about. Since oxygen is very flammable, it’s important to not bring in anything that could cause a spark, like a lighter, or even a zipper. Only cotton clothes are allowed. No hairspray or other hair products, either. But certainly the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy far outweigh these disadvantages. Find out more here.
