Are you a Good Liposuction Candidate?

Liposuction procedure

It’s summertime and many people are hitting the gym in hopes of achieving that perfect beach body. If you’ve been working hard but are still not seeing all of that fat melt away, you may want to consider a different method for getting rid of the unwanted body fat. Liposuction is an increasingly popular procedure for taking out excess fat deposits that won’t seem to go away. The liposuction procedure involves targeting a specific problem area and taking out the fat stores and should not be mistaken as an obesity treatment. If you want to lose weight, you should consult a weight loss doctor and discuss viable medical weight loss programs for you. If, however, you’re interested in getting liposuction, continue reading to see if you’re a good candidate for the procedure.

  1. You Have Localized Fat Stores – Liposuction allows doctors to target a patient’s trouble areas and efficiently remove fat deposits. Common problem spots for liposuction patients include the chest, arms, stomach, hips and thighs. If you can’t seem to get rid of fat in certain areas, you may be a good candidate for liposuction.
  2. You are Physically Fit – People who exercise on a regular basis yet still have areas of fat that won’t go away are the best liposuction candidates. Liposuction is not ideal for those who are not in good physical condition. Remember, it is not a cure for obesity, but rather a way to trim away small areas that cause trouble.
  3. You Have Elastic Skin – After the liposuction procedure, your skin should shrink back down and tighten. Skin with good elasticity does this well. Skin that has lost its elasticity will not shrink and will look saggy. This does not necessarily mean that if you are older you shouldn’t have the procedure. Everyone is different, so it depends how your skin is.
