This evening at about 7:30 a teenager sped down 174th Street going west in a silver four door car. I was on the sidewalk with my daughter and started walking into the street to the driver down and he sped right past me as I yelled, “Slowdown!” He whipped around at the end of the street shouting something and he threw a Styrofoam cup out his window. He started speeding at about 70 miles an hour toward me as I continued walking down the middle of the road. He acted like he was going to hit me and did not slow down at all. At the last minute he swerved and I threw my orange protein shake at his car and nailed his right rear passenger window. As he sped away he yelled out his window, “Next time I’m going for your kid!!!”
My husband was just coming home from the gym and saw the entire thing so he tried to find the driver down the street, but was unable to locate him. We did not get a make or model because it all happened so fast. Anyone who sees a driver or a car by this description, with the orange protein shake all over the back window PLEASE CONTACT ME. If I can get a make and model and plate number I will call and report this incident to the police. I fear this kid will continue to speed around our streets terrorize us and our children until he hits one of us.
In horror, you reread the account of a neighborhood incident that involved a driver who sounded a lot like your son driving a car that was a near match to the vehicle that your son drives. You would like to tell the woman that she should probably curb her own aggression, especially if she is dealing with you son, and immediately call the police the next time.
To say that this has been a challenging summer would be an understatement. In fact, these last three months have been some of the most difficult that you can remember. As absurd as the neighborhood post sounds, incidents like this have happened more than once since school has been out. Even when you hide the keys, your son still manages to find them and, unfortunately, you fear that he is driving after, or while, he has been drinking or doing drugs.
